Streetsblog L.A., 3/18/22:

Most of Metro’s New Crenshaw/LAX Light Rail Line is Substantially Complete – Opening Could be December 2022

Metro’s new 8.5-mile Crenshaw/LAX light rail line really is approaching the finish line. According to testimony at yesterday’s Metro board Executive Management Committee, staff reported that Crenshaw segments A and B (explained below) are substantially complete, essentially meaning that they have passed from the contractor’s responsibility to Metro’s responsibility.

Full "story".   I put "story" in quotes because anytime you see a word like "could", "would", or "should" in a headline, it is not a story but a guess.

L.A. Metro Source, 3/30/22:

Metro celebrates closing of successful construction mitigation programs for Crenshaw/LAX Line; first two segments of rail line are substantially complete

Metro today celebrated the success of its Business Solution Center, Business Interruption Fund and the Eat, Shop, Play construction mitigation programs, all of which have all helped local businesses survive during the prolonged construction period for the 8.5-mile Crenshaw/LAX Line. The project’s first two construction segments are now substantially complete.

Story is here.

Of interest.... is that after all the delays and the time it has taken to get this thing up and running, it will only open partially.    The southern half will start out as a bus bridge because of the infill station Airport Metro Connector.  So initially the only connection to the rest of the system will be at Expo/Crenshaw for the E line.  Thus the realignment that would integrate the Crenshaw Line with the existing C Line will not happen until the Airport Metro Connector is open and the entire Crenshaw Line has gone into service.

Due to ongoing construction of a new Airport Metro Connector Station at Aviation Boulevard/96th Street, the Crenshaw/LAX Line is anticipated to open seven stations, operating between Expo/Crenshaw and Westchester/Veterans stations. A bus bridge will link the Crenshaw/LAX Line at Westchester/Veterans Station to the C Line (Green) at Aviation/LAX Station.

Metro has officially announced that the new Crenshaw Line will be the K Line, and while the name won't involve an associated color, it will be shown in pink on the maps.

  Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project

Metro’s plan for better transit includes the K Line to bring more travel options and access to opportunity. This project will extend from E Line (Expo) at Expo/Crenshaw Station and merge with C Line (Green) at Aviation/LAX Station, connecting the Crenshaw Corridor, Inglewood and El Segundo.
