A belated thanks to you, Kevin, for arranging and managing ECRF. Though I was on board part of the time, I was happy to re-connect with members I hadn't seen for awhile and to meet some new folks. Plus there was the added benefit of new mileage—i.e. Sugar House loop. Fun rail fan adventure. :) Sloan

Thanks to everyone who made this yet another successful RailFest. We had a total of 14 people over the 2 days, though only as many as 12 at one time. It is appreciated especially for those who made a long trip from another region of the country to attend, and in some cases enter a winter climate from a place normally warmer. It was fun, and hopefully educational to some. It was nice fulfilling all the plans, including getting those little extra trackage segments. To the people who only show up in the winter, more than likely we'll see you in Washington next January to ride the new streetcar and Metro Silver Line. The rest perhaps we'll meet again on the (rail)road to Salt Lake City, Reno, and Denver in 6 months. Coming soon here will be the synopsis of post-Fest housekeeping activities, many of them already done, when I am in fact home and can complete them.

Thanks again to Kevin for organizing and implementing the fest. I had a great time and I am very impressed that Kevin was able to time the fest between two arctic blasts. I am home right now in Florida with no snow or freezing temperatures. For those of you that live in the northeast (and especially Dick, who is now a Floridian visiting the northeast), please stay warm and be careful.

I'll get to what I promised but I went from unpacking from the Fest to packing again to be a snow refugee.

OK here we go with the post-fest housekeeping activities. The following tasks have been completed:
  • Fest History was updated to include ECRF 2014.
  • Fest Scorecard main page was updated with yellow backgrounds to indicate that we re-aced Shore Line East, NJ TRANSIT light rail, and SEPTA transit with our riding the new branch of the #15 trolley. Individual pages updated to include ECRF 2014 at these links.
  • Final list of participants, their hometowns and on which of the days they were involved.
  • Planned vs. actual times in our itinerary. The "T"-word adjective was removed, since it's no longer tentative.
  • On the ECRF homepage, the link to the Costs Page was removed so that it is not obsolete if and when any fares or fare policies are changed. (It is better for you to check the respective websites of the transit agencies to determine their current fares.) ECRF homepage was also rewritten in the past tense, since that's exactly what is appropriate.
  • On my own homepage, the indications were removed marking ECRF as the current "working" RailFest. It's still there forever with all its associated links.
Thanks again to all participants who braved the weather to have a good time riding trains and conversing about trains and other matters. We also had our obligatory discussions about our future Fests, including the next one this summer.

At this current time, all but two people one person indicated to Bill their Amtrak mileage -- so if you haven't don't forget to report it. This includes the NJT "Thruway" ride over the bridge on Saturday from Philly to Pennsauken.

If you wanted snow and was impressed by the snow squall Saturday morning, you came a week early.

Indeed they were supplementing the 15 with buses but I saw the back of a departing trolley when I reached that corner.

More post-Fest housekeeping -- my own personal itinerary was updated to show planned vs. actual times. This also includes my Paoli turn on Friday, and the Monday Croton-Harmon trip.
