President Obama Nominates Former MBTA Leader Bev Scott To NTSB

 

President Barack Obama has nominated former MBTA General Manager Beverly Scott to a top federal transportation post.

 

Dr. Beverly Scott left the MBTA after this winter’s horrendous weather and worse transit service. Now, Obama has tapped Scott for a spot on the National Transportation Safety Board.

Obama withdraws nomination of ex-MBTA head to transit board

BOSTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has withdrawn the nomination of Boston’s former public transit head to the National Transportation Safety Board.

 

Beverly Scott, former general manager of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, had been nominated for a term on the safety board expiring in December 2019. The nomination was rescinded Monday.

Beverly Scott bows out of bid for NTSB post

 

President Obama has withdrawn his nomination of former MBTA chief Beverly Scott to the National Transportation Safety Board, abruptly ending her controversial bid to the $155,000-a-year post, the Herald has learned.

 

Obama officially rescinded her nomination yesterday, according to a White House document viewed by the Herald. A White House spokesman said last night Scott requested that her nomination be withdrawn “due to personal reasons related to her family.”
