I've worked out the fares you would pay if you were to go a-la-carte rather than using a pass. For each day, if you're going to be with the group all or most of the day, you will definitely do better by getting the Independence Pass.

Saturday

MFL Center City to 69th Street: $2 base fare plus $1 for transfer
NHSL 69th Street to Norristown TC: Transfer plus 50 cents zone fare

Manayunk-Norristown Line, Norrristown TC to Center City: $4.75

Broad Ridge Spur, 8th Street to Fern Rock TC: $2

Warminster Line, Fern Rock TC to Center City: $3.50

13 trolley, Center City to Darby: $2
11 trolley, Darby to Center City: $2
BSL City Hall to AT&T Station: free transfer
BSL AT&T Station to City Hall: free transfer

Total for Saturday: $17.75

If you use tokens (worth $1.55 a piece) for the $2 base fares, this reduces the total to $15.95.
Independence Pass: $11.

Sunday

CH East Line: Center City to CHE: $3.50
CH West Line: CHW to Center City: $3.50

Media-Elwyn Line: Center City to Media: $4.75
101 trolley, Media to 69th Street: $2 base fare plus $1 for transfer
MFL, 69th Street to 30th Street: Transfer

Total for Sunday: $14.75

If you use tokens (worth $1.55 a piece) for the $2 base fare, this reduces the total to $14.30.
Independence Pass: $11.

Tokens can be purchased from a machine in most subway stations, in packages of 2, 5, or 10.
Independence Pass can be purchased from the conductor if you are starting your day on Regional Rail, or from downtown ticket offices or sales centers. Those getting them each morning of our travels should buy them at 30th Street, Suburban, or Market East Stations.
