Amtrak Cascades Trains 506 and 507: Track and Infrastructure Improvements Affects Service between Portland and Seattle

Effective Mondays through Fridays Only, February 6 - March 9, 2015

On the dates shown below, the Washington Department of Transportation and BNSF Railway will resume construction to upgrade the route between Portland and Seattle. While construction is underway, only two trains (506 and 507) will be affected between Seattle and Portland, and only on weekdays. Passengers can still choose from eight other trains, and all trains will be available on weekends. Refer to the following for details:

Dates Trains 506 and 507 Are Affected

  • Friday, February 6, 2015

  • Monday - Friday, February 9 through February 13, 2015

  • Monday - Friday, February 16 through February 20, 2015

  • Monday - Friday, February 23 through February 27, 2015

  • Monday, March 9, 2015

On the dates above, Train 506 and 507 will be canceled between Seattle and Portland, and alternate bus service will be provided at Portland, OR, Tacoma, WA and Seattle, WA, only. Train 507 will operate normally between Portland and Eugene.

Alternate bus service will not be provided at Vancouver, WA, Kelso-Longview, WA, Centralia, WA, Olympia-Lacey, WA or Tukwila, WA. Passengers traveling to or from these stations are encouraged to make reservations aboard other Amtrak Cascades trains.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we make improvements to passenger rail service. The Washington State Department of Transportation is working to make Amtrak Cascades even better for you. In 2017, when construction is complete, we will have shorter travel times between Seattle and Portland, two more round trips each day, and improved on-time performance. Thank you for riding with us as we expand passenger rail service for you.
