Extra CapeFLYER service for the

4th of July Weekend

Hyannis, MA - To accommodate the massive influx of visitors over the 4th of July weekend, the CapeFLYER is announcing that it will operate a special extra train on Thursday, July 2nd.  The Thursday train will operate on a Friday CapeFLYER schedule - leaving South Station at 5:50 p.m. arriving in Hyannis at 8:15 p.m.  It will also make the same intermediate stops as the regular Friday train does on summer weekends.

"There is no better place to spend the 4th of July weekend than enjoying all that Cape Cod and the Islands have to offer in the summertime," said Thomas S. Cahir, Cape Cod Regional Transit Administrator.  "The CapeFLYER train service is the quick, efficient and customer friendly way to get over the Cape bridges without having to deal with the traffic.  Cape Cod RTA buses and ferry shuttles can get you the rest of the way to your destination once you are here."

This year, there will be a major new 4th of July celebration at the Buzzards Bay train bridge:  http://capecodcanalfest.org.  Many towns in the region will have fireworks or other celebrations and we encourage visitors to check each town's Chamber of Commerce website.  Additional Information about things to do can be found at http://www.massvacat...ys/4th-of-july/ and http://www.capecodchamber.org

The CapeFLYER is a unique partnership between the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.  The CapeFLYER has a cafe coach operated by Blonde on the Run that serves food and drink (including a liquor license for beer and wine) and a bike coach that can hold over 40 bikes.  Cape Cod RTA buses are available to take customers to the Cape's towns.  Customers can also get discounted tickets for Steamship Authority trips to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, Island Queen trips to Martha's Vineyard and Hy-Line Harbor Cruises.  A complete list of the discounts for the various ferry providers and trips and links to ferry schedules is available at www.CapeFLYER.com.  Shuttles to the island ferries are available at Buzzards Bay and Hyannis.
