NY-1 TV, New York, NY, 6/6/13:

More Metro-North service through a new station in the Bronx seems like a win for everyone.

"It would be accessible to in and out of the neighborhood to the train station and getting to and from downtown, so it's very convenient, I think," said one local.

Except that it would not be "more" Metro North service since they currently don't have any. Only Amtrak uses that line, and they don't stop between New York Penn Station and New Rochelle. Story is here.

It will be interesting to see how Amtrak handles the commuter traffic on this line. It is not a 4-track line like their Northeast Corridor south of Newark or Metro North's segment east of New Rochelle.

Connecticut Post, Bridgeport, CT, 4/2/15:

Four new Metro-North stations planned in the Bronx

The 2015-16 New York state budget approved Wednesday includes money for four new Metro-North stations in the Bronx, part of a project that would bring Metro North service from Connecticut into Penn Station.

The new stops would be at Co-op City, Morris Park, Parkchester, and Hunts Point, and would provide access to rail travel to 93,000 residents of the outer borough, according to a statement by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office.

Story here.

Amtrak delays Metro North/Borough officials frustrated by greedy repair demands

The east Bronx dream of long-promised Metro-North Rail commuter service into Manhattan is being threatened by Amtrak, the owner of the rail tracks, in its demands that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority cough up the funds to make infrastructure improvements on the system before a signed contract is forthcoming, according to borough officials.

Poughkeepsie, NY Journal, 10/24/18:

Amtrak demands stalling Metro North plan to open Manhattan's West Side to Hudson Valley

Amtrak's eleventh-hour demands have stalled plans for a rail project that would deliver Metro-North commuters to Manhattan’s West Side for the first time and open a new path to jobs in the Hudson Valley, a top-ranking Metropolitan Transportation Authority official says.

Story is here.    I think the headline writer got his or her wires crossed with the content of the article.  This story is about Metro North New Haven Line access to Penn Station via the Hell Gate Bridge.  The headline mentions the Hudson Valley, with the idea of bringing Metro North Hudson Line service over Amtrak's Empire Connection into Penn Station.
