While a nonstop train for Worcester residents will be great, I have to wonder if this train will run full or have plenty of empty seats. Is there really enough end-to-end ridership to fill a train?   And if that train -- with some empty seats -- passes waiting commuters in places like Southborough and Westborough, I think we eventually will see those stops added to this train..... in what would be a more zoned express train operating model.

Letter to the Editor in Springfield, MA Republican, 11/10/15:

Case for expanding Amtrak east/west rail service compelling

Recently, Lt. Gov. Karen Polito announced the addition of a "nonstop bullet train" and two additional express trains on the MBTA Worcester-Framingham line to Boston, "Bullet trains' will cut time to Boston to less than hour," Oct. 11, page C1. The additional rail service is in direct response to the increased demand for quick and efficient transportation to and from Boston.

Although the writer calls for Amtrak Inland Route service restoration, he is also advocating extended commuter rail service as a further extension of the aforementioned Boston-Worcester express service, hence placement here.
