Buffalo, NY News, 4/9/17:
NFTA says moving bus terminal to train station would come with high cost
A new facility for intercity trains and buses is emerging from the drawing board of the committee determining how best to replace Amtrak’s Exchange Street Station.
Story
Intermodalism certainly makes sense. But a combined bus/train station obviously needs to be near train tracks, which eliminates the current downtown transportation center from contention. However just as important, if the old Central Terminal site returns to transportation uses, then NFTA will need to provide a convenient shuttle service between there and downtown -- which certainly could be accomplished by keeping the downtown bus terminal. I think that intercity buses should all serve the rail station to allow for easy connections or Thruway possibilities.
