An interesting fact from our trip on Alaska Rail this summer.
The car attendents on the Railroad portion of the train are high school students on summer jobs. State law does not allow Students to take jobs that will keep them away from home overnight. The run takes 12 hours so if they went the whole way (like the attendents on the cruise ship cars) they would be away from home over night. So when the two trains meet half way they stop and the students exchange trains. This puts them all home for the night. Good solution which makes everyone happy.
