Here's the latest update on Eagle RailFest:

Restaurants page for Chicago has been updated. On two separate occasions, John Corbett was in Chicago and did the legwork in recording the changes to the food courts in Union Station and Ogilvie TC. Special thanks to John, who did this for us even though he will only be joining us in St. Louis and Dallas. http://pages.prodigy...st/chi/food.htm

About the $10 for the Gateway Arch.... If by now you have not sent it to me, please don't. At this point I will have no further access to my P.O. Box before I leave on the trip. Nor will I have the ability to negotiate a check since I can't get to my bank before our departure. You can give me the money in person in cash or check form.

When planning last year's Toronto Fest, the big new challenges were the border crossings and the currency exchange rates. This year, it has been the fact that this is really three Fests in one, taking place in three different cities in a six-day period. In addition to all of that, we have a lot of Amtrak travel to, from, and between those cities. Hopefully our trains will operate on or close to schedule!

I am hoping that some of you will once again volunteer to help out with the trip report. This would require taking some notes during our Amtrak rides and while riding the transit, streetcar, and/or commuter lines in each city we visit. We can discuss this on the train, but one idea may be to split the responsibilities so that each of us is responsible for a smaller segment of the 8-day event.

I have contacted some participants individually yesterday regarding information for a contact list. This list will not be put on the internet since it contains our cell phone numbers. But it can be either e-mailed to you in .html format or printed and handed to you in person. It is not to be shared with people outside our group. The list also shows at a glance the classes of service each of us will be taking on our various Amtrak trips.

That's it for now. Anything further that comes up between the weekend and Wednesday evening will be part of a final e-mail on Wednesday night.
