Progressive Railroading, 4/26:

Pennsylvania panel OKs 34 freight-rail projects for funding

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf yesterday announced the State Transportation Commission's approval for new freight-rail projects that will received a combined $40 million in funding.

Nine projects were approved for funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Rail Transportation Assistance Program (RTAP) and 25 projects through the Rail Freight Assistance Program (RFAP).

"Keeping our extensive rail freight system in good shape is a common-sense way to ensure a sound foundation for the state's economy," said Wolf in a press release. "Pennsylvania is ranked first when it comes to operating railroads, and we are committed to working with this vital industry to serve the state's business community and keep our job picture bright."
