OTOL Washington RailFest 2005
Friday, August 26th & Saturday, August 27th

Final update:

Tomorrow the OTOL Washington RailFest 2005 begins!

A few last minute thoughts:

At the fest I will hand out the contact listing I created today. I had to wait until the last minute, as some potential participants were uncertain whether they were going or not.

I was thinking that it may be less hassle (and cheaper for some of you) to purchase a $6.50 pass for Metro for Friday too. That is, if you can do it before the group meets at the food court. If you are staying in Washington tonight (Thursday) as some are, that trip inbound to Union Station might put you above or close to the $6.50 mark anyhow with the regularly planned fest activities on the Red Line.

Regarding where we will eat dinner on Friday night, I have one vote for Rockville, and mine is for White Flint Mall, only because of the variety a food court offers. We can still come to an agreement on this in person, as late as during our MARC trip to Rockville.

The participant list has undergone a few changes today, as people have bowed out or decided to come. For those who indicated they were uncertain, I included them with a double ** indicating "Maybe".

I may see Piotr and/or Bill in the morning at Metropark. Piotr is taking Regional #183, which leaves a few minutes after my Acela. Bill will join Michael and me on #2107.

I intend to arrive in Washington at 10:09 AM, head straight for my hotel in Arlington, and leave my suitcase there. We should be returning downtown after that. If we are not at the food court by 12:00 noon, we will be there shortly after.

I will of course be collecting information to put in a trip report, which will hopefully be available before New Years Day 2006, maybe 2007. :) If anyone wishes to volunteer to be a photographer, we always enjoy the group shots, so we can see who was there at any particular time.

That should do it. I look forward to have an enjoyable two days on the rails in the Washington, DC area.
