An aviation milestone has been achieved thanks to a half-century of railroad transport. Spirit AeroSystems announced on Feb. 14 that the 10,000th 737 fuselage had left its factory in Wichita, Kans., and was en route by rail to Boeing’s massive assembly plant in Renton, Wash.

Very interesting supply chain, and it appears that the Renton Rocket will continue for awhile. When I went to EWU, sometimes I would go into Spokane to a model train shop to buy a train magazine, and saw one of these trains make its run over the Downtown Viaduct bound for the Latah Junction. I work in the Interbay area, and sometimes seen this train in Balmer Yard, six fuselages at a time, and the biggest yet of the 737s yet to come.

I found a video of the Renton Rocket in action, street running in Downtown Renton, with three fuselage.
