Here is the April 2013 update for the service restoration project on the A subway line to the Rockaways.

What they don't mention is the other segment that has been out of service since Sandy -- the part between Beach 90th Street and Rockaway Park (Beach 116th Street), below where the current H line has terminated since it was instituted 3 weeks after the storm.

In this latest update, they now do mention that work is being done on the Rockaway Park segment, at least station work at Rockaway Park itself, a.k.a. Beach 116th Street.

Here's the word straight from the MTA-New York City Transit website:

Governor Cuomo announces May 30 Restoration of Service

On May 16, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced service on the storm-damaged Rockaway line of the train will resume May 30 after an all-out, six-month MTA effort to rebuild the 3.5 mile-long stretch of the Rockaway flats including 1,500 feet of washed out tracks, replace miles of signal, power and communications wires, and rehabilitate two stations that were completely flooded.
