Inland Empire Daily Bulletin, Riverside, CA, 2/25/22:

Montclair, Claremont ask state leaders to fund light-rail extension using budget surplus

The cities of Claremont and Montclair recently sent letters to the governor and state Legislature asking for a sizeable chunk of the $46 billion state budget surplus to fund a 3.2-mile extension of the LA Metro light-rail line from Pomona to their cities.

This is the latest.

The Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority last week marked the 50% construction completion status of the 9.1-mile, four-station Foothill Gold Line light-rail project from Glendora to Pomona, California.

SNIP

Construction on the project began in July 2020 and, despite building in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, continues to remain on schedule to be completed in early 2025, when it will be turned over to Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (L.A. Metro) for training and pre-revenue service.

Current endpoint of what is currently the (L) line is Azusa-Citrus College. Starting the next section from Glendora would leave a gap in service.

And the poor Foothill Gold Line construction authority (formerly Pasadena Blue Line authority) needs to rename again. The color is going back to blue on the map before the new segment opens, and color designations were replaced by letters which will be (A) in this case.

Whittier, CA Daily News, 8/25/23:

New state funds could boost Metro rail projects, including Gold Line to Montclair

It’s nervous time again for LA Metro, now that a door has swung open that provides funds for unfinished rail projects — extra dollars that will come from a transportation rescue program in the recently adopted state budget.
