From WMATA website 9/15/14:

Metro selects developer for Grosvenor-Strathmore joint development site
Transit-oriented development would add residential, retail space

Metro has selected a team led by Streetscape Partners, LLC as developer for its site at the Grosvenor Metrorail Station. This developer selection is the third project award arising out of Metro’s Joint Development Solicitation of November 2013.

The developer team is proposing to build approximately 550 residential units and approximately 6,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. In support of Metro’s sustainability program, the proposed development will be required to achieve LEED Silver certification at a minimum.

All existing surface commuter parking spaces will be replaced with a new extension to the existing parking garage at Grosvenor-Strathmore.

The development agreement is subject to final approval by Metro’s Board of Directors. Construction is expected to begin in 2019.

News release issued at 2:07 pm, September 15, 2014.

WTOP radio 12/6/17:

Montgomery Co. approves Strathmore Metro mixed-use development

Preliminary approval has been given to development plans for the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro, a new residential community that will be built atop the Metro station's surface parking lot and surrounding eight acres.

WASHINGTON — The Montgomery County Council unanimously gave preliminary approval to development plans for the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro, a new residential community that will be built atop the Metro station’s surface parking lot and surrounding eight acres.

Fivesquares Development LLC’s plans — called Strathmore Square — include a mix of buildings, small-scale retail, new pedestrian and bike paths, a public art and performance space and a large village green.

There are thousands of residents already around the Strathmore Metro stop, but Fivesquares principal Ron Kaplan tells WTOP there is currently very little to bind the community.
