OTTAWA — Plaintiffs Eric Rasmusen and family announced Thursday that through their attorneys, The Cantlin Law Firm, they have agreed to a $1 million settlement of their lawsuit against two defendants, Amtrak and BNSF Railroad.

This stinks. It will set a horrible precedent for future cases. Sympathy for the family of an inattentive driver who put the vehicle in the path of the train won out over common sense that the train could not swerve around it.
