There has been a major change to our itinerary for Wednesday 7/21/10 within Seattle. The Seattle Streetcar (South Lake Union line) round trip has been moved to the evening to coincide with our dinner location, which the majority has chosen to be Duke's Chowder House. The restaurant is located at the far end of the streetcar line in the Lake Union area, so riding to and from will be our official ride.

Instead, in the morning we will begin earlier with the Seattle Center Monorail, and then more time has been allowed for the Space Needle. Should we get through with the Space Needle quicker than expected, there are many other activities in Seattle Center. The Sounder and Tacoma LINK round trips remain unchanged. We are working on a morning meeting location somewhere in the Westlake Center area so that we can ride the Monorail together.

If you don't wish to go up in the Space Needle, ride the Monorail, or visit other attractions in Seattle Center, you can meet the group at King Street Station well in advance of our 3:15 PM Sounder departure.

Updated itinerary

There are still some changes coming to Tuesday afternoon 7/20/10 as well; once everyone's hotel locations are known (e-mail me, not here), this will be communicated to you.

Here's some really good info on Seattle King Street Station and getting from there to the International District/Chinatown Station, quoted from another forum:

to get from King Street Station to the International District Station, exit the main door on the west side of King Street Station, turn left (south) and walk to the Weller Street footbridge, and turn left (east) and take the bridge. You have your choice of broad stairs or an elevator to get up to the footbridge. Take the bridge over the railroad tracks to 4th Avenue S. Cross 4th Avenue S at the crosswalk, keep going straight (east) through the pedestrian plaza between the two buildings, and the entrances to the International District Station will be on your left (north). To get on a southbound Link light rail train, you will want to take one of the entrances on the west side, to Bays C and D. (Once you are down on the platform, it won't matter whether you are at Bay C or Bay D, as the trains are long enough you can board from either.)

A diagram of LINK around downtown, and some pictures of the footbridge.

The Doubletree is I believe one block north of the Pioneer Square station. Or it is about 8 blocks worth of walk from King Street Station, probably easiest done after crossing over the footbridge to 4th Ave.

The map in the diagram is really for the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel, which also happens to host LINK through most of its length. LINK currently ends at the Westlake Center station. The Convention Center station is served only by buses. You may notice the little jog in the tunnel between Westlake and Convention Center. When the light rail is extended east (north) to University, it will not serve the existing Convention Center station but pass to the south of it.
