Omaha (NE) World-Herald, 7/14/17:

Step back in time and ride on the Union Pacific from Omaha to Columbus

For 105 years, Union Pacific trains carried travelers across the United States. But passenger service came to a halt in 1971, as airline and Interstate travel continued to grow.

Next month, passengers will once again have the chance to ride the rails on a U.P. train.

Council Bluffs’ Union Pacific Railroad Museum will take passengers from Omaha to Columbus, Nebraska, and back in historic U.P. train cars.

The Union Pacific Museum Special will depart at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 13 from the Durham Museum, 801 S. 10th St.

Tickets are on sale now. Fares start at $250 for coach seating.

Continue here w/photos.

My wife and I are taking the California Zephyr from Emeryville to Omaha to join this excursion. I am wondering if any other on the forum are going to this event?

There will be a reception on the 12 of August at at the Union Pacific Museum in Council Bluffs from 5 to 7 P.M. for excursion ticket holder.   When I last looked only tickets still available were coach tickets.  Hope to hear from anyone going.
