Dear Diary,
Your reader’s story about the old Erie-Lackawanna railroad brought back wonderful memories from the 1970s. As a young woman newly launched into a publishing career, I commuted every day with Amtrak from Philadelphia to New York on the Bunker Hill. The dining car was elegant – white linen tablecloths, roses in bud vases and steward service. We jostled one another to get a seat for breakfast, and what a treat it was . . .
