Day 2 is finished, and I come to you tonight from Philadelphia. Today Baltimore's MTA sort of redeemed themselves, as we did not have any real long waits. Everything appeared to run on time (and even one motorman seemed to have his watch a minute or two ahead of schedule). Our plans of course ran into a few snags, but things worked out for the long run. We rode the Metro heavy rail line, first in subway to Johns Hopkins, and then all the way from that end to its northwestern terminus at Owings Mills. The station at that end is adjacent to a shopping mall by the same name. However we encountered some parking lot construction that had closed off access between the station and the mall. While we could have walked a roundabout route, we decided to just go back downtown and instead eat at Lexington Market. It turned out to be a better choice, because everyone found the foods of their choice and we didn't have to trudge across a large parking lot. We did ride the light rail up to Hunt Valley again as a group, and then we rode to both of its two southern termini, BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport and Cromwell Station in Glen Burnie. Our day was capped off by an on-time trip on Amtrak Regional 138, as well as a free SEPTA Regional Rail ride from 30th Street to Market East. Today's festivities included, at various times, Mike Hammond, Skip Howard, Jishnu Mukerji, Alan Burden, Rick Metcalfe, Ted Patchell, Don Weinstein, Penny Weinstein, Michael, and me. Tomorrow we spend our one day in Philadelphia, and we hope to be joined by Maurice Carson and Bill Magee.
