Using data from weather.com on Monday afternoon (1/11), the following are forecasts for NYC for Thursday - Monday of the fest weekend (the information in parenthesis is from accuweather):

Thursday 1/14, 37H, 32L, mostly sunny, 0% precip (34H, 28L, partly sunny)

Friday 1/15, 45H, 37L, partly cloudy, 0% precip (44H. 37L, milder with variable clouds)

Saturday 1/16, 47H, 35L, rain, 90% precip (45H, 40L, periods of rain)

Sunday 1/17, 42H, 30L, mostly cloudy, 20% precip (45H, 31L, rain and possible snow)

Monday 1/18, 38H, 22L, partly cloudy, 10% precip (34H, 25L, overcast and colder)

As you know, the closer to the even we get, the more accurate (maybe) the forecasts will get.

This season anything is possible. Yesterday it got to 65, which is no-coat weather in my world, and today it was frigid with wind-chills making it worse, and a heavy winter coat was very necessary. Hopefully the different sources will agree on something as next weekend approaches.

From NJ.com, 1/12/16:

'Tricky' winter storm taking aim at N.J. this weekend

"It is a tricky forecast for the weekend," said Valerie Meola, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly. "Right now it looks like we could see rain through a good part of the area. For the northern areas, it could be more tricky. There could be snow, even a little bit of freezing rain and maybe some sleet at the beginning." That would be late Friday night into early Saturday morning.

The full story is HERE.

Weather Channel forecast for Saturday shows a Nor'Easter developing just offshore. Coney Island is not a place one might want to be if this happens. Nathan's is still a long block from the ocean, but I think wind & rain would be more of an issue than coastal flooding.

Possible Weekend Nor'easter May Be Mainly Rain in New York, Boston

The most recent GFS model has the rain cleared out prior to arrival in Coney Island. This plot is for 1:00pm EST on Saturday.

And, here is the GFS temperature plot for the same timeframe. Chilly for sure, but not bad for mid-January.
