Well, the Kenosha-Racine-Milwaukee rail line, also known as KRM, was left for dead in 2011, but now the idea may be awakening again.  We have news of a potential station along the KRM line, which would be useless if trains never run along said line.

From WTMJ-TV, Channel 4 in Milwaukee, WI, 12/3/18:

Milwaukee plans to buy land for possible passenger station on rail line

The city of Milwaukee has plans to buy land near where the new Komatsu Mining Corp. headquarters will be for a possible passenger station for the Kenosha-Racine-Milwaukee commuter rail line.

WIS Business,  8/9/19:

Private companies exploring Milwaukee-area commuter rail service

Eight years after Republican lawmakers derailed hopes for a commuter rail line connecting Milwaukee to Racine and Kenosha, a private company is studying whether to revive the idea.

But the plan by Wisconsin Transit & Realty Group — which could include trains to Waukesha and other suburbs — is likely to require some tax dollars, a significant political hurdle while the Legislature remains under GOP control.

And KRM surfaces yet again in 2021.  From Racine, WI Journal-Times, 6/3/21:

With infrastructure money from American Jobs Plan, a Kenosha-Racine-Milwaukee commuter train could be revived

Twice over the past 15 years, headlines from The Journal Times have read “KRM is dead.”

KRM is the proposed Kenosha-Racine-Milwaukee commuter train. However, as Congress considers a new infrastructure bill, perhaps the third time could be the charm.

OPINION: KRM Commuter Rail Revival. Nice Try, But…

There are some things that you really wish could happen. But wishing doesn’t make it so.

A few weeks back, the Racine Common Council, on a 15-0 vote, approved a resolution supporting federal investment in constructing the KRM (Kenosha Racine Milwaukee) commuter rail project.
