MassDOT Construction to Close Comm Ave Bridge for Two-Plus Weeks

 

As part of a $110 million project to replace the half-century-old concrete surface and steel beams that support Commonwealth Avenue as it passes over the Massachusetts Turnpike, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will close that section of Comm Ave to all but MBTA buses, pedestrians, bicycles, and emergency vehicles from July 27 through August 14.

Comm. Ave Bridge Replacement Project Starts This Week

 

Drivers on Comm Ave, the Boston University bridge and I-90 will see lane closings and reductions. Commuters on the MBTA's Green Line B and the Worcester/Framingham rail line and the Amtrak Lake Shore Limited will also be impacted.

Starting Tomorrow: Shuttle buses replacing Green Line B branch service between Blandford Street & Babcock Street from 7/26 - 8/13 due to the MassDOT Comm Ave Bridge Project.

 

Additional Green Line trolley service will operate on the C branch. Hubway will also provided additional bikes along Commonwealth Ave for customers to use as an alternative, and intermediate destinations along Commonwealth Ave are walkable from Blandford and Babcock Streets.

The below stations will have no Green Line trolley service. Please board shuttle buses at these locations:
Blandford Street (Inbound - board at Comm Ave @ Blandford, Outbound - Comm Ave @ Silber Way)
Boston Univ. East (Inbound - board at Comm Ave @ Hinsdale Mall, Outbound - Comm Ave @ Granby St)
Boston Univ. Central (No inbound connections, Outbound - Comm Ave @ St. Mary's St)
Boston Univ. West (No inbound connections, Outbound 855 Comm Ave)
Saint Paul Street (Inbound - board at Comm Ave @ St. Paul St, Outbound - Comm Ave @ Buick St)
Pleasant Street (Inbound - board at Comm Ave @ Pleasant St, Outbound - 949 Comm Ave @ Aganis Way)
Babcock Street (Inbound & Outbound - board @ Comm Ave @ Babcock Street)

All shuttle bus locations will be accessible for persons with disabilities.

I post here because the project will affect Boston College light rail green line.

 

 

.... and I moved the post here because it affects not only the "B" Green Line but also the Framingham-Worcester commuter rail line and Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited.

Framingham/Worcester commuter rail to close in Boston this weekend

 

Commuter rail service along the Framingham/Worcester line will be shut down before reaching Boston this weekend starting Friday night as part of a major reconstruction of a bridge in Boston passing over the route.

 

The closure, which begins at 11 p.m. Friday, will be repeated the following weekend starting Friday, Aug. 4.
