  L.A. Metro’s D Line hits a milestone: Tunneling is complete for expansion to the Westside      

 

 

After five years of construction and numerous delays, crews have finished tunneling operations for the 9-mile westward expansion of the Metro D Line, which will stretch from the current terminus in Koreatown to a new Westwood/VA Hospital Station.

Yesterday, we celebrated the end of tunneling on the Purple (D Line) Extension Project –– a major step forward in our plans to build a subway that will connect Downtown Los Angeles with some of the most significant areas of the Westside.

LA Metro Finishes 5 Years of Tunneling for D Line Subway Extension Project

 

LOS ANGELES – LA Metro has finished five years of tunneling. The Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) added nine additional miles to the D Line.
