Plan already exists for light rail to valley, but no action taken
There is already a viable rail plan for the Fraser Valley. It is called the Leewood Study, which was commissioned by Rail for the Valley and done by Leewood Projects (UK) in 2009.

Surrey, B.C., group opposed to light rail plan says SkyTrain option better
A grassroots group of Surrey and Langley residents opposed to the plan for a light rail (LRT) system in Surrey says it has delivered a petition to the Mayors' Council chair with 3,500 signatures from like-minded residents.

Langley city councillor worried about Surrey plans to scrap light rail in favour of SkyTrain
New Metro Vancouver mayors being sworn in Monday include Vancouver’s Kennedy Stewart, Burnaby’s Mike Hurley and Doug McCallum in Surrey. McCallum has promised the first order of business will be solidifying plans to ditch light rail for SkyTrain.

Metro Vancouver mayors suspend light rail to Surrey, ask for more information on costs
Metro Vancouver mayors have voted to formally suspend all work on Surrey’s light rail transit (LRT) project but have not officially cancelled the project in favour of SkyTrain. Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum campaigned on a commitment to extend the existing SkyTrain line through Surrey along the Fraser Highway and into Langley.
