I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but check out the consists of our two Capitol Limited trips:

Train #29(July13) WAS-CHI:

146 P-42 locomotive
99 P-42 locomotive
42 P-42 locomotive
1260 Baggage
39015 Superliner II Transition Dorm/Sleeper
32055 Superliner I Sleeper
32044 Superliner I Sleeper

38007 Superliner I Diner
33027 Superliner II Sightseer Lounge
34103 Superliner II Coach
34134 Superliner II Coach

31045 Superliner I Coach/Baggage

Train #30(July23) CHI-WAS:

25 P-42 locomotive
56 P-42 locomotive
1733 Baggage
39015 Superliner II Transition Dorm/Sleeper
32055 Superliner I Sleeper
32044 Superliner I Sleeper

38032 Superliner I Diner
33027 Superliner II Sightseer Lounge
34103 Superliner II Coach
34134 Superliner II Coach

34037 Superliner I Coach

What you see highlighted in red is that the transition dorm, both passenger sleepers, the Sightseer Lounge, and 2 of the 3 coaches were the same on both trips. At some point the diner was swapped out and the last coach changed.

Although nobody rode the same exact roomette on both trips, we can deduce the following:
  • Skip, who was in the 01 sleeper on both trips, rode in the same car on both trains.
  • Michael and I, who were in the 00 sleeper on both trips, rode in the same car on both trains.
  • Jishnu, who only rode the eastbound trip, rode in the exact same roomette (#2) in the 01 car that Skip had on the westbound trip.
Fascinating stuff, isn't it? B)

Now if the same cars show up on the Florida trip, that would be something.

Yes, Eric, it would.... especially since the Silver Service trains don't have Superliners. :D

Speaking of Capitol consists, the Capitol Ltd left WAS yesterday behind 4 (count them - four) P42s - numbers (front to back) 18, 71, 14 and 16. 14 was facing back. The rest were facing forward. It was standing ready to receive passengers while we on the Silver Star moseyed in and out almost three hours late. Then we got delayed another 45 minutes between CP Baldwin and CP Phil due to an earlier fatality at Folcroft, but that is another story. At least we had company from 168 and 2220 on that piece of minor mishap.
