Perryville, MD Patch, 4/17/18:

Cecil Transit Launches New Commuter Connection

Beginning on April 30, 2018, Cecil Transit will launch a new fixed route service connecting the Perryville and Newark train stations with an intermediate park and ride stop at Cecil College, located in North East, Maryland.

The Commuter Connection will bridge the approximately twenty mile gap in commuter rail service between MARC and SEPTA, the only gap in about 460 miles of commuter rail between Richmond, Virginia and New London, Connecticut.

Incorrect.   The string of commuter rail ends at Spotsylvania, south of Fredericksburg; it does not make it down to Richmond.

Story here.  I have concerns how this might work, with the limited schedules of both MARC (north of Baltimore to Perryville) and SEPTA (south of Wilmington to Newark).   And the rush hours go in opposite directions so I have to wonder what the market for this might be.   I wonder if this could be viewed as a litmus test to gauge ridership for some future rail extension of either SEPTA or MARC.
