A happy day indeed in Houston with the grand openings of the Purple Line and Phase 1 of the Green Line. The next milestone should come into fruition in the next year or two as the rest of the Green Line over the Harrisburg overpass is completed. At the same time, hopefully the success of the new lines, as well as the expanded Red Line will be evident, and get the city to find money for the Blue Line and then the Gold Line that will connect with it. There has been talk of getting the latter two up and running sooner with some type of bus rapid transit that can later be converted to rail, but why take that step when rail can and should be built at the outset?
