Amazingly, we have yet to witness the first mudslide on the Sounder corridor this season. In the past three weeks we in the Seattle area have had eight inches of rain. I do know that the powers-that-be are working hard on mitigation and prevention, as much as is possible, against mudslides. Perhaps the absence of any news until today means progress is being made. Of course Amtrak trains as well as freight movements are also impacted by the slides. Now I only hope word does not come anytime soon. Otherwise I might have just jinxed the odds.

When the first mudslide occurs, we know who to blame. :D

And this from Sound Transit http://www.soundtran...dslide-11-24-14.

I had been waiting at KSS prior to catching my bus.  The EB arrived but no passengers alighted.  Sometime previously a bus arrived and discharged some pax.  I didn't make the connection until I read the above ST announcement.  First mudslide of the season.  We had heavy rain night before last.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear of major disruptions on the BNSF mainline between Seattle and Everett in the coming days.  We are currently on the receiving end of torrential downpours.  Sounder trains are due to run tomorrow (Friday) and Amtrak today, after the previous 48-hour moratorium, but more slides could occur any time.
