[font="'palatino linotype';"]“Streamliners to Spencer, NC” will be the topic of an illustrated talk by Mark S. Eyer, Vice President of Operations of Carlisle, PA-based Daily Express, Inc. to Harrisburg Chapter National Railway Historical Society (NRHS) on December 9, at Hoss’s Restaurant, 743 Wertzville Rd., Enola, PA.  [/font][font="'palatino linotype';"]Business meeting and speaker begin at 7 pm, with a meal available as early as 5 pm.[/font] [font="'palatino linotype';"]The dinner and meeting are open to the public.[/font]

 

[font="'palatino linotype';"]In addition to his remarks, Eyer will present digital photos, taken over two days of 26 vintage streamlined diesel locomotives manufactured in the time period of 1939 to 1964 by locomotive builders and Norfolk & Western Railroad’s steam locomotive # 611 at the North Carolina Transportation Museum, Spencer, NC. Loaned for the occasion, the diesels owned by various museums and railroads went on display May 29—June 1 and appeared in paint schemes of bygone railroads of the 1950s and 60s.[/font]

[font="'palatino linotype';"]Harrisburg Chapter, one of over 149 NRHS chapters, is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to studying railroad history and preserving significant local railroad artifacts. Major projects include: maintaining Pennsylvania’s official electric locomotive (GG-1 # 4859) as well as Pennsylvania Railroad wood-sided N6B caboose, preserving and operating Harris Tower, and showcasing operating model train layouts to community groups.[/font]
