As of 3:00 PM, service has resumed on the W. The M is still not running in Brooklyn, the V is still not running at all, and Bronx-bound B & D service is running on the A between West 4th St. and 59th St. in Manhattan.

Whatever happened with the M train is probably not related to today's storm. Service was out on the M last night around 8 PM, and probably since then.

M service will remain suspended between Bay Parkway and Chambers Street in both directions through the evening rush hour.

P.S. Never knew brown was an option on this BB. It's not an option on the pull-down list of colors. Are there any other colors that we can use that aren't listed?

Nick,

If you're using the "color" drop-down aid above, it is quite a lame selection of colors. Just about any color you can think of can be hard-coded into the tag.

FWIW I find that the yellow is hard to see, even on a computer that works right (mine at home doesn't). So I substitute gold for it, and edited your stuff above accordingly. The 7 train is really magenta, not [color="purple"]purple
.

Regardless of what they said, today from 1-3 PM, Bs were terminating at W4 NB, and Ds and Fs were running via 8th ave NB only.

From the New York Times, 9/9/04:

Downpour Overwhelms Transit in Morning Rush

Torrential rains linked to Hurricane Frances moved into the New York metropolitan area yesterday, flooding the city's subway system during the morning rush and bringing the region's finely choreographed transportation network nearly to its knees.

From the New York Daily News, 9/9/04:

Rain from 'cane fell mainly on the train

Hey, thanks a million, Frances.

You flooded our subways, turned our roads into rivers, soaked countless pricey shoes and cheap sneakers - and made the morning commute even more hellish than usual.

And you're not done yet.

From the New York Post, 9/9/04:

PUMP SLUMP HALTS SUBWAYS IN SYSTEMWIDE CHAOS

It was simply too much, too fast.

Massive flooding made a mess of the subway system yesterday morning because water pumps were "unable to keep up" with the torrential rains that slammed the city, officials said.
