MTA: Washington Metro will close above-ground stations when snow reaches 8"

Attention MARC Passengers who transfer from Washington Metrorail to MARC at New Carrollton, College Park, Greenbelt, Silver Spring, and Rockville--

Please be aware that Washington Metrorail will close all above-ground stations when snow accumulation reaches eight inches or more. While that level of accumulation is not anticipated by the end of tomorrow's rush hour, please have a backup plan to get to your MARC station in the event your Metro station closes.

Friday MARC service: Penn Line "S" schedule, some trains canceled, Camden & Brunswick no service

February 11, 2010 7:32 PM

Attention MARC Passengers--

On Friday, February 11, MARC will operate an S schedule on the Penn Line. Only trains with an "S" under the train number in the timetable will operate. In addition, some express trains will make extra stops, as denoted by an "S" in the timetable grid. However, the following Penn Line trains will not operate: 423, 427, 431, 414, and 416.

Station parking lots and platforms have been cleared and treated, however, snow piles exceed 15 feet in some places and re-freezing is likely this evening. Please exercise extreme caution when driving to your station, parking your car, and walking to and boarding your train.

There will be no service on the Camden Line. Passengers are encouraged to use the Penn Line; Camden Line tickets are always honored from comparable stations on the Penn Line.

There will also be no service on the Brunswick Line. Heavier snowfalls northwest of Washington have made restoring operations more challenging. At this time, Washington Metrorail has not restored service to Shady Grove and Rockville, however, service has been restored to Silver Spring. Please check WMATA's website, www.wmata.com , in the morning to check the status of the above-ground stations on the Red Line.

As a reminder, MARC trains will not operate on Monday, February 15 (Presidents' Day). While we anticipate running full service on Tuesday, February 16, a final decision will be made on Monday evening. This status will be updated at http://www.mta.maryland.gov/ .

Thank you for riding MARC Train Service.

MTA: Full MARC service on all three lines Tues., Feb. 16. Be careful Tues. morning with slick conditions.

Attention MARC Passengers-

MARC will operate a full schedule on all three lines on Tuesday, February 16.

Station parking lots have been cleared and platforms and sidewalks treated. However, the additional dusting of snow this afternoon and tonight will make for slick conditions in the morning. In addition, tall snow piles restrict vision at the intersections of driveways in lots. Please exercise extreme caution when driving to your station, parking your car, and walking to and boarding your train.

Snow piles are blocking some spots at parking lots. Many of our parking lots are ordinarily filled to capacity, so these lost spots may affect parking availability for later morning trains. Passengers at the following stations should allow extra time in the morning to drive to an alternate station if necessary: Laurel, Edgewood, West Baltimore, Germantown, and Barnesville. We appreciate your understanding that this unprecedented snowfall has presented snow clearance challenges beyond simply plowing our lots.

Thank you for riding MARC Train Service.

MTA: Visit www.mta.maryland.gov for service info in the event of inclement weather Friday, February 26

Attention All Commuters:

Baltimore, MD (February 25, 2010) - The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is preparing for snowfall of up to 6 inches forecast for Thursday night through Friday. Buses and trains will operate normal weekday schedules as long as conditions are safe for passengers and employees.

Bus and Mobility Paratransit services are dependent on the conditions of the roadways so some diversions and delays are possible as the snow accumulates.

Customers may call the MTA Transit Information Center at 410-539-5000 from 6am to 7pm or visit the MTA website at wwwmtamarylandnd.gov for up-to-date information.

MARC Trains and Commuter Buses will operate normal weekday schedules as long as weather conditions permit.

Metro Subway and Light Rail maintenance crews will continuously monitor track and overhead wire conditions. During the overnight hours and for the duration of the storm MTA will operate empty trains in order to keep the tracks and wires clear.

Mobility Paratransit will operate as close to its schedule as possible. In severe weather conditions Mobility may declare that only medical emergencies will be transported. Mobility customers with scheduled trips should call 410-764-8181 for the status of their ride.

Customers are cautioned to walk carefully on platforms, walkways, steps, parking lots and bus stops and when boarding and alighting buses and trains, to allow extra time for travel and to dress warmly. Buses and trains can be delayed because of the weather and traffic.

Thank you for riding MTA MARC Train/Commuter Bus Services.
