Amtrak Advisory:

Service Adjustments for Tropical Storm Gordon

Tuesday, September 4, 2018 9:35 AM ET

Crescent and Sunset Limited Trains to Operate on a Modified Schedule

Due to safety concerns and severe weather impacts predicted to occur as a result of Tropical Storm Gordon, the following service adjustments have been made for Amtrak Crescent Trains (operating between New York and New Orleans) and Sunset Limited Trains (operating between New Orleans and Los Angeles):

  • Crescent Train 19, which departed on Sept. 3, will terminate in Atlanta and alternate bus transportation will be provided to New Orleans. Crescent Train 19, which departs on Sept. 4, will terminate in Atlanta with no alternate transportation available to New Orleans.
  • Crescent Train 20, departing on Sept. 5, and train 20, departing on Sept. 6, will both originate in Atlanta with no alternate transportation available to New Orleans. Crescent Train 20, departing on Sept. 4, will operate as scheduled.
  • Sunset Limited Train 2, which departed on Sept. 2, will terminate in Houston with alternate bus transportation to New Orleans.
  • Sunset Limited Train 1, which departs on Sept. 5, will originate in Houston with no alternate transportation to New Orleans.

Customers with reservations on trains that are being modified will typically be accommodated on trains with similar departure times or another day. Amtrak will gladly waive additional charges for customers looking to change their reservation during the modified schedule by calling our reservation center at 800-USA-RAIL.

Anyone planning to travel should check their train status on Amtrak.com or our smartphone apps prior to departing, allow extra time to get to the station and be extremely careful in stations and on platforms.
