From AOL News, 10/1/05:

The mayor said he has e-mailed the White House outlining his top priorities, including rebuilding and improving the levee system; seeking help with a rail link to Baton Rouge that could be used for emergency evacuation; and getting federal tax breaks and incentives for businesses and residents.

I hope it does happen. They need a reliable rail link that can be used for evacuation. Also, would this be the first passenger service over KCS rails since their last trains expired in '69. Also, if this train happens, and what Colorado Railcar says about their coaches, perhaps they would be good candidates for this service, with or without the DMUs. They might be able to carry more than standard commuter rolling stock.
