Well I'm already on the way. :) Hello from Club Acela in Philadelphia, where we are awaiting our first Amtrak train. We head for New York City and then Albany tonight, joining the Adirondack already in progress tomorrow (Tuesday). It will be a relatively small group, but we still will have a wonderful time! Progress report to follow.

Michael and I made it to Albany, albeit with a few slightly late trains.

We rode NJT's Atlantic City Line from Cherry Hill, NJ to Philadelphia. That train picked us up about 5 minutes late, but due to padding it got into 30th Street Station 5 minutes early.

Amtrak Regional #86 was running about 33 mins late according to Julie. After our nice comfortable wait in Club Acela thanks to a Select voucher, we rode #86 to New York, getting there about 38 minutes down. It was a much shorter wait therefore in NYP until our next train.

Amtrak #291, the Ethan Allen Express, departed NYP 2 mins late, and somehow lost time en route, although we never really dwelled too long anywhere. We must have had some slow orders en route that I didn't notice, particularly because I was fast asleep.

In Croton-Harmon, a Poughkeepsie-bound MN diesel train arrived the same time as we did on the adjacent track. The 2 trains did their work at the same time, and were sent north at the same time. I feared that MN dispatchers would run him in front of us, but eventually after 9 minutes of travel playing cat and mouse, we passed him and took the track in front of him. Arrival in Albany was 5:30, 15 mins late.

We waited about 25 mins for a #14 bus that would take us from Rensselaer to downtown Albany. Then we got off at the Pepsi Arena and walked about 6 blocks to our hotel. We had dinner at a restaurant within the hotel called DP American Brasserie, also known as Yono's.

Looking forward to Day One of our Fest, starting tomorrow!! :D
