The Platte Valley Trolley is a heritage trolley line that is the last vestige of regular trolley service in Denver along the west bank of the Platte River. The route was once much longer, however much of its right-of-way is now covered by the West LRT line that we will also be riding.

As indicated on its website, the line uses "Breezers", which are open aired trolley cars. Thus if the weather is bad, they will not operate. Assuming they will use the same schedule they followed last summer, it only runs on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Hence one reason we're in Denver on a Friday.

It appears that the ride is quite short, as trips leave the start/end point at Confluence Park every half hour. The trip one way would therefore be no more than 14 or 15 minutes before we backtrack to the place where we started.

As for getting there and back, the line appears to be a few blocks walk from the combined light rail/16th Street MallRide stop that is part of the Denver Union Station complex, and it would be a slightly longer walk from Union Station proper. I surmise we will be coming from the MallRide bus as we will be having lunch somewhere downtown. We have to walk over a short bridge on 15th Street and then down to the tracks on the far side of the water.

Fare is $5 per person, cash only. Website for Platte Valley Trolley: http://www.denvertrolley.org/
