Amtrak Suspends Some Service Along the Southeast



Weather impacting trains operating between Florida and New York City

 

 


 


Due to severe weather conditions impacting the East Coast, Amtrak will suspend some services along the East Coast for Saturday, Oct. 3.
 
Carolinian Trains 79 & 80 (New York City - Charlotte), Palmetto Trains 89 & 90 (Savannah, Ga. - New York City), Silver Star Trains 91 & 90 (Miami - New York City) and Auto Train 52 & 53 (Lorton, Va., - Sanford, Fla.) is cancelled. No alternate transportation will be provided. Some Thruway Bus Connections will also be cancelled.
 
Northeast Regional 99 between Boston and Newport News, Va., will end in Richmond, Va. Northeast Regional 71 between New York City and Richmond, Va., will end in Washington, D.C.

Amtrak will resume services along the East Coast beginning Sunday, Oct. 4. Some services between New York City and Florida were temporarily suspended on Saturday, Oct. 3, due to severe weather conditions that impacted the Southeast.

Well unless train equipment washes up out of the ocean, I would expect that on Sunday morning, the consist that would have arrived in Norfolk as 71 Saturday night will not be operating as 88 out of Norfolk; that train most likely would originate in Washington where 71 terminated.

 

Next, I would expect Sunday's 194 to originate in Richmond, since its equipment as 99 terminated there on Saturday night.

 

Just using logic from where I sit.

Due to weather conditions still impacting railroad operations in the Southeast, Amtrak will suspend some services and make adjustments to others along the East Coast for Monday, Oct. 5.

 
Palmetto Train 90 (Savannah, Ga. - New York City) is canceled. Silver Star Trains 91 & 92 (New York City - Miami) is suspended between New York City and Jacksonville, Fla.
Northeast Regional 84 between Richmond, Va. and New York City, will originate in Washington, D.C. Northeast Regional 94 between Newport News, Va. and Boston will originate in Richmond, Va.

Amtrak Silver Star Service to Resume on Friday


Some trains operating between Florida and New York City remain suspended
 
Oct. 8, 2015
3 p.m. ET

Amtrak service on the Silver Star Trains 91 & 92 will resume normal operations on Friday, Oct. 9, after being suspended this week due to severe weather conditions. Service will operate its normal schedule between New York City and Miami, however passengers can anticipate delays.

Service on other Amtrak routes between New York City and Florida will be suspended on Friday, Oct. 9. No alternate transportation will be provided.

Palmetto Trains 89 & 90 (Savannah, Ga. - New York City) is canceled.
Silver Meteor Trains 97 & 98 (New York City - Miami) is canceled.
Auto Train 52 & 53 (Lorton, Va. - Sanford, Fla.) is canceled.

Amtrak is reopening one of its rail services between Florida and New York for the first time since Hurricane Joaquin forced the company to suspend service.

Amtrak Restores Service Along The East Coast

Amtrak is restoring all service along the East Coast after severe weather impacted railroad operations in the Southeast over the last week.

 

The following services will resume scheduled operations as noted, except to the Kingstree, S.C. station, which remains closed:

  • Auto Train 52 & 53 (Lorton, Va. – Sanford, Fla.) will resume operations on Sunday, Oct. 11 
  • Palmetto Train 89 (New York – Savannah, Ga.) will resume operations on Sunday, Oct. 11 
  • Palmetto Train 90 (Savannah, Ga. – New York) will resume operations on Monday, Oct. 12 
  • Silver Meteor Trains 97 & 98 (New York – Miami) will resume operations on Monday, Oct. 12
