L.A. Metro Source, 1/29/21:

Work begins on Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for C Line (Green) Extension to Torrance

The C Line (Green) Extension to Torrance project is studying light rail transit options between the existing Redondo Beach Station and the under-construction Torrance Transit Center. Trains from both the Metro C Line (Green) and the future Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project may run on this new extension.

The Crenshaw/LAX line is supposed to be opening later this year, and if this article is true, then they still haven't figured out the operating plan for integrating the Crenshaw/LAX line with the existing C (Green) Line.  The latest plan was to have the existing  C (Green) Line run west from Norwalk and then turn north covering the entire Crenshaw/LAX line to Expo/Crenshaw.   Another line, presumably to be named the K Line, would start at Willowbrook/Rosa Parks and run west and then south to cover the remainder of the existing C (Green) Line.  It would therefore be the K Line that would be extended to Torrance.   I would not mind seeing all possible route combinations at the junction covered, but I think there was an issue with the number of LRT cars and the lengths of station platforms that drove the decision.

The final phase of planning for the long-anticipated $1 billion light rail line extension from Redondo Beach to Torrance has begun, with Metro scheduled to host two virtual meetings before month’s end to receive public input on the environmental effect of possible routes for the South Bay’s largest ever regional transit project.

RT&S, 2/18/21

Despite one city’s opposition, L.A. Metro moves forward with C Line extension

Officials hope to have the C Line extension complete by the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

L.A. Metro has now entered the final planning phase for a $1 billion light rail line extension from Redondo Beach to Torrance.

The agency will be holding a pair of virtual meetings before March so it can hear any concerns from the public.

Titled the South Bay’s largest regional transit project in history, the extension of the C Line, also known as the Green Line, will be a 4.5-mile rail link that will connect the area to the southern California transit network.

However, the Lawndale community is not on board, which has forced officials to consider removing the line from the neighborhood altogether.  . . .

Easy Reader, 5/6/22:

Next Metro Green Line light rail extension site meeting May 11

Metro representatives will hold another on-site meeting Wednesday, May 11, for the proposed Green Line light rail extension through Redondo Beach.

Only problem I have with this is that it's not the Green Line anymore.     It will be a letter designation C or K depending on how they ultimately reconfigure the existing C Line and the Crenshaw/LAX Line once everything is open.

The recent uncovering of a gravestone in the backyard of a residence in Lawndale, California, could derail plans to expand Los Angeles light rail through the town.

UPDATE: Possible grave sites may haunt Green Line proposal

The LA Metro Transportation Board has postponed a decision on a light rail extension through a North Redondo Beach/Lawndale right of way after possible gravesites were found in a Lawndale back yard.

Story here.   It's not the Green Line, it's the © Line.
