Well I guess we can say we did another one for the books. Many good memories were created during our official 10-day Fest, plus our various trips getting to and from it. Everything we set out to accomplish, as far as riding rails we didn't ride before, was done. We had several good meals together, and various participants rode the long distance trains, which all behaved themselves in ultimately delivering us to our final destinations either early or within half an hour of the schedule.

The reports on each aspect of the Fest are in the subforum dedicated to them.

We still have a few people travelling home, but for me the 2-week sojourn ended early this (Friday) afternoon when I got home.

If you haven't already done so, please report to Bill your Amtrak mileage to, during, and from the Fest in the appropriate thread. Feel free to reflect on the trip here, or in the report topics if anything factual was missed.

The online housekeeping has already begun with the finalizing of the participant list and the actual itinerary times. Much more needs to be caught up, and with the benefit of a weekend following my return home, it will be done very soon. The progress will be noted in this thread.

Thanks everyone for taking a week or two out of your summer to participate in yet another exciting train trip! I am already looking forward to the next ones wherever they may take us.

Thank YOU Kevin for planning and organizing a perfect trip (before, during and after the fest).

Thanks to Steve and Mark for making dinner reservations and following up with the restaurants.

Kudos to Bill for promptly posting the mileage.

Congratulations to Chris for reaching the 200,000 Amtrak mile mark on this trip.  Extremely impressive for someone so young.  I am hoping I will reach that mark in the next few years.

I had an excellent time and enjoyed spending time with "old" friends and enjoyed meeting a new friend, Mark, in Seattle.

I had the opportunity to ride the Empire Builder westbound to Seattle for the first time and the Southwest Chief eastbound for the first time.  Riding on the Pacific Surfliner was a new experience altogether for me.

Thanks to everyone for helping make this trip memorable.

Apologies to my FaceBook friends for all my "signing in" and posting.  My sister and Chris showed me how to "sign in" while in DC on 7/10, and I could not stop once my phone started recognizing my location in the app.

Post Fest housekeeping continues. The Fest Scorecard main page has been updated to show the fact that our trips to Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles were revisits.

For Los Angeles, the main page earned a yellow background for Metro since we aced the system by completing the newest sections of the Gold and Expo Lines. The Metro page has been updated to reflect that we rode those segments in their entirety.

For Seattle, the main page has a yellow background for Seattle Streetcar and LINK because we again aced the new First Hill streetcar line and the newest portion of LINK to UW/Husky Stadium.  The Seattle Streetcar page and the Sound Transit LINK page were accordingly updated.

For Portland, the main page has a yellow background now for both the Portland Streetcar and the MAX since we completed the A/B Loops and the MAX Orange Line.  The TriMet transit page, which includes the streetcar and MAX, was updated as well.

And now, Fest History has been updated, with our PCRF exploits added, and the places we can visit in the future adjusted.
