In preparation for the next big RailFest event in the Philadelphia area, I am looking for good sources who can telll me what frequences are used by he various companies and modes. I have found just a little bit of this information from the handful of Philadelphia railroading sites on the web, but so far theyare even contridictory, or ignore some certain facts I know to be true. For instance, when they give a general scnanner rail frequency for half of the entire SEPTA system, they forget that parts of the R2 Wilmington, R3 Media-Elwyn, R5 Thorndale-Paoli, R6 Cynwyd, R7 Trenton, and R8 Chestnut Hill West run on AMTRAK right-of-way, and would be most likely on 160.92 for most of the NEC between Morrisville and the southernmost stations on the NEC in Delaware. The R5 and R6 would probably be 160.635, which is the frequency that AMTRAK uses on the Keystone Corridor from Zoo Tower to Harisburg. Needed are: SEPTA Regional Rail - broken down by each route SEPTA Transit - includes MFSE, BSS, Subway-Surface Lines, Norristown high-speed lline, Media & Sharon Hill Lines. NJ TRANSIT - Atlantic City Line only NJ TRANSIT SNJLRT- Anyone know what that frequency will be? PATCO - Entire route I would be much obliged if anyone here could point me to a relaitvely new source, whether in print or internet form, where all of the current radio frequencies used on the Philadelphia's subways, elevated, buses, trackless trolleys, subway-surface lines, and the surface trolleys, are listed. For Boston, New York, Chicago and other Fests we found some very inclusive information such as this, which really help me in getting more helpful information out to the potential participants . So far no personal site on the internet seems professional enough that I would take the webmaster's word for things, or trust the information worthy of republishing. Thank you,

The Philadelphia Chapter NRHS has some of them. They are listed here.

Sorry for the prior post. I reread your original post and figure you already visited the NRHS site. Here are the PATCO frequencies from a few years ago. I haven’t fiddled with scanners for a long time so I can’t positively confirm that these are still valid, but I think they are. I know they do not use the standard AAR channels. I will fire-up the old scanner when I get home, program these in, and see what happens. 500.8125 Channel 1 - police 500.8375 Channel 2 - MOW dispatcher 500.8875 Channel 3 - secondary train dispatcher 500.9125 Channel 4 - primary train dispatcher As for SEPTA, the frequencies listed by NRHS are for SEPTA dispatching. As you stated, while under Amtrak dispatching, SEPTA uses the applicable Amtrak frequencies for the route except when communications with SEPTA is needed. One exception, I believe, is the R3 Elwyn. My understanding is that the R3 occupies SEPTA controlled tracks all the way, including the short stretch on (or really next to) the NEC and Amtrak does not get involved (much to SEPTA's pleasure). I'll ask around here in the office (there is at least one VERY avid rail fan in residence) and see if there are any good sites for local rail frequencies.
