Alstom signed a contract with Västtrafik to refurbish 18 trains in Motala, a Swedish workshop specializing in heavy maintenance.

The approximately $10 million contract covers 18, X12 and X14 two-car vehicles, beginning in the fall through the end of 2020. Exterior maintenance will involve rust repair and painting, while interior work includes mounting new walls, ceiling, floor, and chairs, as well as stripping each vehicle.

The X12 and X14 trains are used by Västtrafik in commuter traffic and are part of the X10 group of vehicles manufactured from 1991 to 1995.
