From the MTA's website:

ALERT

Hudson Line  1:05 PM

There is no train service between Peekskill and Garrison because of a track condition resulting from the recent extreme weather in that area. Crews are currently working to make repairs, but train service will not be restored for the PM Peak.

Instead, the following shuttle bus service will be available:

Beginning with the 3:58 PM Hudson Line train from Grand Central, buses will meet trains at Peekskill Station.

There will be two bus routes: one route will transport customers to Cold Spring and Garrison stations; the other will take customers to Beacon Station where they can connect with service to New Hamburg and Poughkeepsie.

Please note: The 5:09 PM train and 5:12 PM trains will be combined, leaving Grand Central at 5:12 PM. Also, the 5:28 PM and 5:31 PM trains will be combined, leaving at 5:31 PM.

Beginning with the 7:18 PM train from Grand Central we will resume operating shuttle bus service between Peekskill and Garrison only. Trains will continue to depart Grand Central at regularly scheduled times. At Peekskill, customers can pick up shuttle bus service to Garrison, where they can resume regular train service.

Hudson Line customers traveling to or from points between Peekskill and Poughkeepsie can expect extensive delays and crowding. If possible, we suggest that customers consider taking Harlem Line trains to stations nearby their destinations and make arrangements to be picked up. Hudson Line tickets will be accepted on the Harlem Line and the Port Jervis Line.

As an alternative, southbound customers may want to drive to our Croton-Harmon Station, where parking restrictions have been relaxed, to pick up regular train service. For driving directions you can go to our Stations Section and select the Croton-Harmon page.

Please continue to check this website for updates.

From the Journal News, 8/17/04:

Rail service suspended by washout

GARRISON — Service on Metro-North's Hudson line was expected to be back to normal for this morning's rush hour after torrential rains yesterday caused a washout, leaving a 25-foot stretch suspended about 15 feet in the air.

From the Journal News, 8/18/04:

Tracks between Peekskill, Garrison reopen

Metro-North's Hudson Line trains resumed a normal schedule yesterday morning between Peekskill and Garrison, a day after heavy rains washed out the ground beneath the tracks, leaving a 25-foot section of rail exposed.
