Brush fire in West Baltimore causes Amtrak, MARC train delays

Delays are expected on Amtrak and MARC train’s Penn line tonight due to a brush fire that occurred Tuesday near the West Baltimore MARC Station, according to MTA and fire authorities.

Story is here.

I often report the news here, but on occasion I get to be a part of it.  As can be imagined, with all Amtrak and MARC service stopped through the area, the Northeast Corridor quickly became a mess.  I was aboard Regional 171 headed for Baltimore Penn.  Although that is before the problem area, Baltimore Penn quickly became a SNAFU (situation normal all filled up) as nothing could proceed south from there. Thus, trains had to be held at other stations en route. Mine was one of few that makes a stop at Aberdeen, MD.  Although we pulled in there on time, we were held at that point for over 40 minutes until other trains ahead in Baltimore started moving out so we could then move in.
