Germany train crash: 'Several killed' in Bavarian town of Bad Aibling


Two passenger trains have collided in the German state of Bavaria, with police saying several people have been killed and scores injured.

The crash happened at Bad Aibling, a spa town about 60km (37 miles) south-east of Munich.

Train Crash in Germany Kills at Least 2, Injures Scores


Two trains crashed head-on in southern Germany early Tuesday, leaving at least two people dead and around 100 injured, police said. More than two hours after the crash, emergency services were still trying to reach people trapped in the wreckage.

Nine dead, 50 seriously injured after head-on train crash in Bavaria, Germany

 

(CNN)Nine people are dead, two are assumed missing and 50 seriously injured after a head-on collision between two trains in Germany's southern state of Bavaria, police said Tuesday.

 

Altogether, 100 to 150 people suffered injuries in the collision, police say.

Human Error Caused German Train Crash


An error by a dispatcher caused the train crash that left 11 dead and 85 injured in southern Germany last week, prosecutors said on Tuesday.

A German rail dispatcher was playing a game on his mobile phone shortly before two trains he was in charge of collided on a single track line, killing 11 people, prosecutors have said.

Prosecutor: Dispatcher played video games before deadly German train crash

 

A train dispatcher was playing video games on his mobile phone until just before two commuter trains collided head-on in southern Germany in February, killing 11 people, the public prosecutor's office says.

The prosecutor's statement calls the dispatcher's actions a "dereliction of duty," not merely a "temporary failure." He faces a charge of negligent homicide.

Train dispatcher admits hitting wrong signal in crash trial

 

 

BERLIN (AP) -- A German train dispatcher charged with 12 counts of negligent homicide and 89 counts of causing bodily harm in the collision of two commuter trains earlier this year admitted Thursday to hitting the wrong signal buttons, news agency dpa reported.

 

The dispatcher, identified only as 40-year-old Michael P., in line with German privacy laws, made the confession at the opening of his trial at the regional court in Traunstein, dpa reported.

Prosecutors want 4 years for train dispatcher in fatal crash

 

BERLIN — Prosecutors are seeking a four-year jail sentence for a train dispatcher accused of negligence that led to one of the worst train crashes in German history this year.

The German news agency dpa reported Friday that chief prosecutor Juergen Branz told the court the defendant had made a series of errors, including playing a game on his cellphone shortly before the crash.
