MARC has cancelled service for Friday. It is posted on their web site { http://www.mtamaryla...rc_schedule.cfm } and is being carried by all local media outlets. I have not received an e-mail from them announcing the cancellation.

sent at 5:54 and received at 5:59 (as I was making the previous post):

Dear MARC Rider:

MARC Train Service will not operate on Friday, September 19.

In light of the current weather predicitions indicating that high winds will continue through the early morning hours which could cause downed trees and power outages, MARC feels it is unable to predict a safe commute for our riders on Friday. Both Amtrak and CSX have been very cooperative and committed to assisting MARC in operating, however since there is not a comfort level that MARC can operate service reliably and safely, the prudent action is to suspend service for the day.

MARC in conjunction with Amtrak and CSX will work over the weekend to prepare for service on Monday. MARC is still concerned that Hurricane Isabel may cause serious flooding along the Potomac River over the weekend. MARC has moved all its equipment normally stored at Brunswick to Frederick. If there is serious flooding Brunswick Line service may be impacted for Monday.

We will update our website http://www.mtamaryland.com and send out email notifications on any updates to the service.

Sincerely

MARC Train Service
