Downeaster website at least explains why:

PRIORITY ALERT:

All Downeaster Trains Cancelled for Tuesday

Monday, Feb. 9- 9:00pm

Due to the Governor of MA declaring a State of Emergency, all MBTA rail services will be suspended Tuesday, Feb 10. This means no Subway, Trolleys or Commuter Rail trains will operate .

This decision has forced the Downeaster to cancel all trains as well as there is no way for our trains to enter MA.

We apologize for this inconvenience and plan on returning to normal service on Wednesday, Feb. 11
