   OKC streetcar ridership has plunged amid pandemic 

 

 

 

Downtown Oklahoma City has been mostly quiet amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, with many businesses having been shuttered for two months to prevent spread of COVID-19. That inactivity has had a dramatic impact on the ridership of the city’s $135 million streetcar system launched in 2018.

    OKC Streetcar workers vote to unionize as COVID-19 infections climb    


 
 
Oklahoma City Streetcar workers are demanding to be heard.


Streetcar workers want Herzog Transit Services Inc. (HTSI) to recognize their vote to unionize with Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 993 and "stop the company’s ongoing retaliation amid rising COVID-19 infections".
