Metrorail to open at 5 a.m. on Sunday, October 11, for Army Ten-Miler

Metrorail will open two hours early, at 5 a.m., on Sunday, October 11, for the Army Ten-Miler.

  • The closest Metro stop to the start of the race is Pentagon on the Blue and Yellow lines, however riders may want to consider using Pentagon City as an alternate station due to potential crowding at Pentagon.
  • Please take note of service changes on the Orange & Silver lines.
  • Metro will operate additional trains between on the Blue Line between Franconia-Springfield and Stadium-Armory between 6 a.m. and 8:40 a.m., and between 11:15 a.m. and 12:40 p.m.
  • Metro recommends using a SmarTrip card to speed your trip. SmarTrip cards can be purchased at any Metrorail station entrance for $10 ($2 for the card loaded with $8 in fare value). If using a paper farecard, a $1 per-trip surcharge applies.
  • Be sure to load enough fare value on your SmarTrip or paper farecard for your entire roundtrip to avoid lines.

Connecting Metrobus service at Pentagon will operate from Pentagon City until approximately 2 p.m. Please plan ahead and expect detours around the course.

Metro wants to remind race participants of the important service change on the Orange, Silver and Blue lines that could impact your travel to the Army Ten-Miler Expo on Friday, October 9 at the DC Armory. Between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and between 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. only Blue Line trains stop at Stadium-Armory. Orange and Silver line trains pass through the station without stopping.

The additional two hours of service is funded through an agreement with event organizers.
